Youth Minister
in Wilbraham
|
St.
Cecilia Catholic Church, located in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, is seeking
a full-time salaried Youth Minister to guide our Jr. and Sr. High School
Youth Ministry beginning in the summer of 2008. This is a new position
for St. Cecilia’s, a dynamic Parish of approximately 2,400 families,
and the individual chosen for this position will be a member of the parish
staff and will report to the Pastor.
Responsibilities and Duties: Based on the USCCB document, Renewing
the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, the Youth Minister
will:

Actively take part in forming young people in faith and empowering them
to play a vital role in parish life

Develop programs for the middle and high school youth
-
Coordinate and facilitate the curriculum for the high school religious
education and confirmation programs, approximately 450 youth
- Be
responsible for providing opportunities for teens to be more engaged
in parish life through prayer, worship, community building, and outreach
experiences including, but not limited to:
-
planning, coordinating and promoting weekly/monthly social and spiritual
events

planning and conducting youth and confirmation retreats and summer
missionary activities, trips, and special events

Be responsible for planning liturgies for youth masses
- Be
responsible for recruitment and training of volunteers for youth programs,
retreats, and other activities

Act as a liaison with the Diocesan Office of Youth Ministry and organize
and promote youth to attend events sponsored by the diocese
- Be
responsible for fundraising activities to fund programs, capital needs
and other expenses of the Youth Ministry Department
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
-
Have a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, catholic studies,
theology or related field, and experience in youth ministry
-
Understand and affirm the teachings and faith of the Roman Catholic
Church and be a practicing Catholic
-
Have a heart for evangelization, meeting young people where they are
at, and inviting them into a living relationship with Christ and the
Church
-
Be energetic, independent, hard-working, self-motivated, and comfortable
giving direction and supervision to others
-
Have a youthful spirit and enjoy working with youth, teens and adults
- Be
available weekends and evenings and be willing to travel for retreats
and special trips
