OBITUARY: Sister Angela Joseph Caldarone, DHS
PUTNAM, Conn. – Sister Angela Joseph Caldarone, a Daughter of the Holy Spirit, 102, died Feb. 20 at Holy Spirit Health Care Center, here, where she had been in residence since 1996.
She was born Maria Lucia Caldarone on Feb. 18, 1912 in Waterbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela (DeCicco) Caldarone. She entered religious life in 1931 and made her religious profession on Aug. 8, 1935 at the motherhouse in St. Brieuc, France.
During most of her religious life, she taught the primary grades in various schools, including St. Cecilia’s in Leominster, Mass.; St. Louis, New Haven, Conn.; All Hallows, Moosup, Conn.; St. John’s, Plainfield, Conn.; St. Anne’s, Hartford, Conn.; St. Anne’s, Waterbury; and the former Assumption School, Chicopee. She retired to the provincial house in 1991.
She is survived by a sister, Tessie Masi, of Waterbury; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Feb. 24 at the Holy Spirit Provincial House Chapel in Putnam, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Putnam.
