Assumption College announces new program, tuition freeze

SPRINGFIELD -- In a Feb. 16 announcement on its website, Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., introduced "Assumption Assurance," described as "a new program that addresses the national challenge of college affordability."

In the website announcement, the major elements of the program are listed as:

  • An exceptional, classic liberal arts education with professional programs – the very foundation for any successful individual in today’s ever-changing marketplace;
  • A four-year price freeze at the fall 2014-2015 tuition rate for members of the Class of 2018 and current freshmen and sophomores for the balance of their four years at Assumption;
  • A robust internship program of which nearly 70 percent of 2013 graduates completed before graduating;
  • The option to spend a semester at the college’s new campus in the heart of Rome, Italy.

With the implementation of the Assumption Assurance program, the cost for incoming freshmen in 2014 is expected to be $35,510. A report on masslive.com, the website of The Republican newspaper of Springfield, states that the college anticipates offering the tuition freeze to the Class of 2019 as well.

Assumption College is a small, Catholic liberal arts college, founded in 1904.
