SPRINGFIELD – Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley will be back from Rome and heading west to be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual Springfield Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference on Saturday, March 29.

The event will return to the Bellamy School in Chicopee, beginning with registration at 7:45 a.m. and concluding with a 4 p.m. Mass celebrated by Springfield Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell.
The day will feature talks by other notables in the Catholic Church; Jason Free will be the facilitator.

The conference also will include time for confession, eucharistic adoration, vendors and a chance to be with other men looking for spiritual growth. Bryan Mercier, a 39-year-old retreat leader, will begin the day. He is the founder of the  ROCK Group: Revival of Catholic Kids.

Ralph Martin, president of Renewal Ministries, will journey from Michigan to speak about Catholic renewal and evangelization. Vinny Flynn, who is known as “the man who sings the Divine Mercy Chaplet on EWTN,” also is scheduled to speak.

The theme of the conference is "Return to me with all your heart" (Joel 2:12). Father Jon Reardon, chairperson of the annual Catholic Men's Confeence, said, “We want to do something that will both inspire and educate at the same time. In this new theme of the conference, confession will be the main topic. Why should we go? Why is it important? What are the spiritual benefits? How often should I go?

"Questions such as these will be addressed and it will give the men something to take home with them," said Father Reardon, "a new challenge and a new goal for their spiritual lives. As each conference has proven to be a huge success, this one will be no different. We have great speakers coming to talk to us.”
