Youth Group to present living Nativity on Sunday, Dec. 22

CHICOPEE – The San Damiano Youth Group will host “Greccio in Chicopee: St. Francis’ Living Nativity” at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Basilica, 534 Front St., here.

The presentation, which includes live animals, is a reenactment of the first Nativity scene, created in 1223 by St. Francis of Assisi in the village of Greccio, Italy to highlight the humble circumstances of Christ’s birth.

A light reception and Christmas caroling will be held in the St. Stanislaus School cafeteria following the presentation. The Living Nativity is free but free will donations will be accepted to help the youth group defray the cost of the event.
