LEE – Students at St. Mary School, here, like Catholic students throughout the diocese, celebrated All Saints Day with a Mass and a special parade of saints.
Students in grades five and six worked on a religion unit in which they each selected a saint and began research to learn about the life of the individual saint. Teacher Marytheresa Valleri worked with the students assisting them in their research and in writing a short paper describing the life and works of the saints.
In preparation for the parade of saints the children put together costumes that represented both the life of the saint and something of meaning to the saints’ lives. The students were a part of the procession into Mass on Friday morning.
At the end of Mass, the students presented information about their selected saints. The presentation is an annual event for students at St. Mary’s.
