Bishop to celebrate Mass marking pope’s installation March 19

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell will celebrate a special liturgy marking the installation of Pope Francis on Tuesday, March 19 at St. Michael's Cathedral, 254 State St. The Mass is scheduled for 12:10 p.m.
The date coincides with the Papal Installation Mass, which will take place earlier in the day at St. Peter's Basilica at Vatican City in Rome. It also coincides with the Feast of St. Joseph, Universal Patron of the Catholic Church.
Students and staff from St. Michael's Academy also will participate in the liturgy.
All are welcome to attend the Mass at the cathedral. For those unable to attend, the Mass will be available via streaming video online at both www.iobserve.org and www.diospringfield.org.
