OBITUARY: Sister Patricia Anne Dolan, SSJ
RUTLAND, Vt. – Sister of St. Joseph Patricia Anne Dolan, 80, member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in her 43rd year, died on Wednesday, July 11, in Rutland.
Born in Rutland, she was the daughter of John and Caroline (Dye) Dolan. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Vermont in 1969 from Christ the King Parish, Rutland. She became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 2001 when the two communities merged.
She attended Christ the King School and was graduated from Rutland High School. She attended Mary Washington College, University of Virginia and graduated from The College of St. Joseph the Provider in Rutland.
She served at Christ the King School, Rutland, as a teacher and as resource aide for nearly 30 years. She was an avid sportswoman, having worked in the Rutland Recreation Department for 18 years prior to entering the Sisters of St. Joseph. She also received awards from the Regional and Vermont State Poetry Contest and National Education Contest for several years in succession.
In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Thomas and Peter.
The wake and funeral took place on Saturday, July 14 at Mt. St. Joseph, 131 Convent Ave., Rutland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040-2739.
